This is a very rare 1933 japanese military xeercise badge. I think this might be one of the most sought after badges that appears in the excellent book, in the name of a living god. This was in my own collection, and i've olny ever had another, and that was about 3 years ago. The front has planes in the sky with a searchlight on them, men wearing gas masks with a machine gun pointing at teh planes. The kanji on teh front reads shiba (an area in tokyo). The back reads shibaku bougoudan daienshu kinen (shiba ward defense large maneuvers) & showa 8 nen 8 gatsu (august, 1933). According to the book this is made of solid silver. Teh weight is just over 17 grams.
It measures 40 mm from top to bottom. The condition si excellent. I've taken many photos with different backgrounds, you can see just how nice it is.
